Ecological Crisis: Can something be done?

Faced with the widespread destruction of the environment, people everywhere are now coming to understand that we cannot continue to use the goods of the earth as we have in the past. The public in general as well as the political leaders are studying its causes. Moreover, a new ecological awareness is beginning to emerge and encouraged to develop into concrete programs and initiatives.
Certain elements of today’s ecological crisis reveal its character. First among these is the indiscriminate application of advances in science and technology. We can’t deny many recent discoveries that benefit the humanity. Unfortunately these discoveries have produced lone-term effects to our environment. The depletion of our ozone layer and greenhouse effect are one of the consequences of industrial growth and burning of fossil fuels that are known harmful to our environment and atmosphere. But the question is always, can something still be done?
Ecological crisis is a certainty because it is already happening and we’re still continuing doing such crisis without knowing what would be the results and consequences. As a student and as a citizen, lessening the burden to our mother must start in our very own hands. Even though in a very small way, the importance is that we’re helping and contributing to our world to become better.
